There's a lot I miss from the old blog actually - like the blab and silliness. I might even start another secret blog somewhere, under a different guise just so I can rant off uninhibitedly at the universe again.

Anyway - back to art. I've been doing sketches for the next one - but I shan't be posting them up here just yet, as they're a bit rude. Instead I'll post the piece when its all finished. In fact I'm going to have a job just drawing it - with not only my daughter asking "what's that man (or woman) doing there?" or "doing that for?" but my mum also peering querulously - at the various pictorial goings on - wondering whether I'm carrying on with some stranger (ha!). Not to mention hub who sometimes gets up in the middle of the night to sit and frown at all these people who are taking over the house.. Hmmm. I'll have to work stealthily... Much easier to write such stuff than draw it out perhaps...

So this week, suddenly have masses to do on the jazz book too as it rolls speedily towards closure - texts to edit, accounts to put in order etc. Plus I'm chasing the shape of a musical....

R.I.P. Michelle

For my 6 followers out there I'm posting a few close ups of this third one. Just doing the finishing off bits right now. Took some big A3 photos of all of them into one of the big art galleries here in CT this morning and they were so completely wild in their enthusiasm - with talk of sales and clients and percentages and other stuff that I was rather taken aback. After all this time (of not really being an artist anymore) I think I forgot how to 'talk that talk' - so I kind of babbled on distractedly about me and my daughter ambling through the pictures over here, there and everywhere and stuff. Plus I found out about the best pastels in the world - mmmm.

Also been thinking about the next picture - which will have a huge hand in it and maybe even a heaven in it and people having fun maybe - doing lots and lots of silly, lewd things to one another - yes, why not?

Plus now I'm feeling the urge to get back to the keyboard again and write. I feel a musical coming - maybe even a sci-fi musical.....woooooo!

updating the photo as the piece develops.......- just to compare it with the sketch...

Became the proud owner of ths wonderful drawing tool the other day - (showed it off on fb first): a large left hand. I probably spent an hour bending the lovely, wooden fingers this way and that, until my daughter grabbed it and started being a pirate with it up her sleeve. Anyway haven't used it yet but there may well be an enormous hand in the next picture. Hmm. And I'll probably need it to work out those hands pinning washing (in the last one - they're still not quite right).

Been making sketches for the next one in this 'Hum of History' series and trying to move things along. A little bitty just yet, but I wanted to take it to more of a city setting - less mountain and sea - away from Cape Town really - ha!
So far I prefer the first one (composition-wise) On the second, I spent far too much time working on the pool and there wasn't room for the side-stories. But anyhow - no pool or mountain in this one. Maybe I'll bring that nice green light back though *guffaw* And at least the rabbit's found a place to sit.

Ah the joy of thick brown paper. The smoothness, the smell, the feel. Just look at that!
I did warn you that this blog might get a bit simple - nay boring perhaps - but who cares? Oh to gaze upon a lovely 6 metre roll - all ready to be cut up, glued together and hung up (on a spare wall somewhere...hmm).
Blankness. Infinite possibility. I love it don't you?

Hello Pot and Lara (ha! the joy of being able to address readers by name...)

Anyway just a quick one this. Been thinking about this new blog and stuff. Thought there'd be a different tone here - I'll keep it positive - no groans, moans or struggle - that was the last blog. Here'll be blissful celebration of doing - art, film and writing and travel of course. And maybe food too. But no sweating.
After all, it seems we are indeed authors of our own fate - so why not?

Hello peeps me again I'm baccccccccccccccccccccck! Yes I am - but not quite...
This time I made sure I swung incense anti-clockwise before I blogged and chanted my middle name backwards, three times just so no one can hi-jack the goodness contained herein (heh heh heh)
But really whattagoarnthereso?.
I tried to explain to my mum this afternoon about what happened to my other blog and she ended up chasing me out of her house which was a bit sad really because it is pretty difficult to explain this kind of shit (cold) and so I realised I was kind of caught in a trap (possibly of my own making) and that is not good and I won't allow it to happen this time. No I won't.. But anyway who cares - about all that anyway and who really has a better life?

I'm going for the undercover here - strictly 'between me and you stuff' that other folk just ain't going to be interested in - keeping it utterly banal and throwing in the meaningful stuff only once in a while when noone notices - (sounds paranoid? - maybe true - ha!!)
See - I was the last person to visit my 'faraway blog', yet I find out purely by accident that I have had over 11 MILLION hits. Hmm some things just don't add up..

So on here I'll just be chimping about how the background colours of my latest drawing are shaping up and the best way to de-plug a hair blocked sink (*guffaw*) See I'm really trying to bore you away now. Don't even think about coming back. There will be no precedent, no presages of the future just unfilmic thoughts, potatoes and some bum fluff. Yeah yeah yeah

Life is good but probably too short.

Here's a piece of the latest picture coming along - nearly finished - may post the whole work-in-progress thing soon..

Love you lots, despite all that has gone between us *guffaw*

*edited to prevent karmic kickback (!)
